Nightrider (Ms. Kittie's Legacy)

Katherine T. “Kittie” Knox is the inspiration behind this painting. She bravely confronted race and gender barriers in the late 19^th century. She was very involved as a bicyclist and joined the male League of American Wheelmen (LAW) established in Newport, RI. Her efforts thrust the issues of race and gender into the national spotlight (League of American Bicyclists).
